Could The Syrian Conflict Irrevocably Change Global Geopolitics?

Published on Oil Price, by Robert Berke, Oct 6, 2015.

Few meetings ever started with dimmer prospects for success than the recent meeting between Presidents Obama and Putin.

The real call for the meeting stemmed from the EU refugee crisis. With a human catastrophe brewing in Europe and the Middle East, EU leaders are urgently demanding that the U.S. and Russia set aside their differences and begin to work together in an effort to resolve the Syrian conflict, the major cause of the massive movement of people seeking sanctuary.   Continue Reading…

After All We Did For Them in Fallujah

… There is a vagueness in these references to a supposed “mission” and “reasons.” We should not forget that the U.S. leader in this Iraq enterprise, U.S. President George W. Bush, had originally claimed that the sole reason for invading Iraq was its possession of weapons of mass destruction and the threat that this posed to international peace and security. Once that was admitted to have been a fraud the mission and its purported reasons would seem to have disappeared and immediate withdrawal should have been called for . However, this was quickly adjusted to the mission of bringing democracy to Iraq, presumably to help the Iraqi people improve their lives as well as reduce the external threat of dictatorship. But any sensible person should recognize that a U.S. leadership that stands firmly with Saudi Arabia, and had earlier supported Saddam Hussein when he was attacking Iran, couldn’t be expending resources for any democratic objective … // Continue Reading…

Irresponsible Putin bashing following his UN address

Published on Intrepid Report, by Stephen Lendman, Oct 1, 2015.

It’s always open season on irresponsibly bashing Vladimir Putin—instead of embracing his sensible solutions to major world problems.

Western media are relentless, marching to the drumbeat of imperial regimes they represent, partnering with America’s killing machine—polar opposite Putin’s global peace and stability agenda, respecting the sovereign rights of all nations, urging unity to achieve common objectives benefitting everyone.   Continue Reading…

THE DECIDER CLASS – gatekeepers in the system

Published on Basic Income Earth Network BIEN, by Karen Christine Patrick, Sept 28, 2015.

I can attest to “angels in the system” so for people in the social work class who are not only doing their job well, but still care deeply for people… this is not about you. This is about your co-workers who’s body shows up to shuffle the paperwork, but their mind and heart are absent, who stick by the rules even if the “rules” are just guidelines, are badly trained or misinformed. These are the deciders who make of the system a labyrinth of despair. There are also the devils of the system, the ones for whom my mother said, “would break the wings off of butterflies.” Our bureaucratic system acts as a dank, dark cellar system that warehouses human “resources” made from our most vulnerable citizens, the “precariat” with no other door to walk through.
